Being a Mac user, I’m always on the lookout for useful programs. I found this one while looking for Winamp for OSX (which doesn’t exist T_T). The program is called “Breakaway”. Basically, all it does is pauses/plays iTunes when your headphones are taken out/in, like the iPod. It prevents any music from blaring out loud in the Library if you forgot to pause, and does that for you. It’s a neat program and it’s free!

There are some nitpicks, do not check the “Preserve Initial Volume Box”. This function is supposed to fade in the volume to the original iTunes volume you had when you pulled out your headphones. For some reason, it likes to fade to MAXIMUM VOLUME when you plug in your headphones. But other than that, it’s a great program that runs un-obtrusively in the background.

How many of you find yourself in this situation. Sitting down on your laptop, enjoying a good Youtube video when all of a sudden 5 minutes in, your screen turns off or dims. Totally ruining your watching groove, you quickly mash some keys or ravish your trackpad to turn it back on. Then you have to rewind back to where you were before the screen cut off. Well, no more, here’s Caffeine to keep your Macbook wide awake.

It’s a small little icon that sits on your menu bar that looks like an expresso cup. To keep your Mac awake, just click on the coffee cup, and voila! it’s filled with coffee, and your Mac will no longer sleep.
